CAN I USE VINEGAR INSTEAD OF A DESCALER?

It’s true that vinegar is sometimes recommended an alternative to buying a descaling product. Bicarbonate of soda is also the go-to cheaper option.

If you live in a hard water area descaling is one of the most important maintenance tasks you will need to complete for your coffee machine. Failure to descale, or to descale effectively can lead to limescale build-up which can, over time, effect the performance of your appliance and could lead it to fail altogether.

Descalers allow for proper dosing, ensuring your appliance is correctly descaled. It’s the innerworkings of the machine where scale can build up out of sight, so it’s important to make sure the job is done effectively.

Vinegar will be safe to use but could lead to the taste transferring to your coffee machine. Vinegar can also damage some of the components of the appliance. Aluminium parts can be damaged when coming into contact with the acids found in vinegar.

Our descaling is safe and effective at decaling all brands of coffee machines.
